Are home gyms a waste of money?
Have you ever noticed how many home gyms are for sale on Craigslist? It is amazing. And yet people keep buying them new. I know of not one person who has ever used a home gym for any length of time. It usually gets converted into a clothes rack. The funny thing is they expect buyers to come over, dismantle the thing, and then PAY for seller for it. If I’m coming over and dismantling your contraption, you better not expect a dime from me. But people try to squeeze every penny out of a resale, which is super annoying. I think a better alternative would be a dumb bell set, and dumb bell bench, don’t you?

TIt takes hours to put it together.he first week you use it. The second week you show it to your friends. A week goes by; you use it again now you are ready to put it in the garage. You are still paying for it. Then you try to sell it. Then it goes to the good will.

Statistics question, HELP needed urgently, can anyone please reply as soon as possible thank you ?
There are four sales representatives in the home gym department of the Fitness Factory exercise equipment store. The number of home gyms each has sold in the past two weeks can be seen below in Table 1. For the following questions assume that sample sizes are 2.

For full marks your answer should be accurate to at least two decimal places.

The marking allows the use of the finite population correction factor, and will provide appropriate feedback if the student did make use of it.

I have calculated the Population mean and the Population standard deviation, I just need to find out the following:

    - expected value of the mean

This is the best I could find without actually knowing the type of gym you purchased. If you know the brand, you could probably google the name and come up with some sort of chart.
OR.. you could go to your local gym and ask for some photocopies of routines or check out the posters on the wall.

  5. tino says:

is there free excercise charts to download for home gyms?
Got one at a garage sale and need excercise charts.

  6. Jimmy Craig says:

How do I submit damages to adjuster when dealing directly myself?
In dealing with an adjuster from an auto accident claim (smashed by a fleeing drunk driver) how do you submit the following damages for reimbursement during a claim, or what might qualify?

    1. Daughter missed school for a week causing her to fail a class and fall behind and had to makeup Gym class.

    2. I was preparing my home for sale and had my house ripped aprt for remodel work. Had to postphone this for a month due to injuries. Costing me thousands in interest payments on loan that was prolonged.

    3. Daughter was on a National cheer team that we spend $12,000 a year on and she was not able to return to her team.

    4. Ruined our vacation since accident happened our first night of vacation.

    5. Expenses and time spent going to doctor 2-3 times weekly for a month

How does one document and submit this to an adjuster for consideration? What may be excluded above and why?

  7. Clevis D says:

You may as well forget this crap, pal. No adjuster will consider ANY of these silly expenses except perhaps some legitimate med services. Go ahead and sue — (this is what you want to do anyway) — they will be ready for you.

Craig’s list or classified would be the best bet.

Might take some time! Good Luck! :-)

Doesn’t it seem a bit absurd that Americans are dying from excess while others die from hunger?
Christians are a bit vague about how detailed God’s plans are, but one cannot help but be struck by this. Today, I was at the gym, and this add comes on, showing before and after people who have had surgery to lose weight. If only the excess could be in the mouths of the hungry before it makes Americans fat. We complain about the stock market or home sales, while others look for food and shelter. All a bit crazy. Really
Response to one of the answers

When I wrote the question, I had forgotten that people that are poor in this country will buy a pound of solid food, like beans or pasta, rather than a pound of fruit, since the fruit contains a lot of water and is therefor less calories per dollar.

Nevertheless, people who are overweight do not change that in much of the world, there is simply not enough to eat. I stand corrected on that point

  10. skippy says:

You do realize that obesity is caused by unhealthy, artery clogging cheep food with no real nutritional value and tons of empty calories, not excess, right? The people in this country who can afford to indulge are skinny because they can afford to eat healthier, not more. They also have more time for things like recreation and excercise because every moment of their day isn’t spent trying to earn enough to survive. I promise you, you will get fat if you can only afford to eat at McDonalds and bulk-junk food from Food4Less, even if you practice portion control. Obesity is a scourge of the poor, not the rich.

Thank you for acknowledging that mistake. Yes, the fact that America overall wastes an obsene amount of resources is a real problem, but it certainly is only tangently related to the obesity epidemic.

Is this really my life. Will I ever be happy again…… ?
I have been in a relationship with this girl for 4 yrs and for the last two yrs it has been very tough for me. She had my kid and then completely jumped ship on me. She also quit her job and also and stopped cooking and cleaning. We lived in a luxury condo and both of us shared the bills so when she quit her job we lost 40% of our monthly income. I wanted to marry this girl so I trusted her judgment on what she was doing. So 1 yr later she still is not working. I was forced to sale my truck, motorcycle, home gym, Sony play station 2, AC, plasma HDTVs, etc…………. I also got evicted form my last apt and sued twice. Due to her no handling her stuff right. After I got sued the 2nd time I let her know that she will need to start working because I can’t hold the bag anymore. She got jobs but only worked them for 2 – 3 days before she quit. The other day I got paid a realized I’m only making 24 bucks profit on my pay checks. And that is going to the gas tank so what happens is I don’t pay one of the company’s I owe money to that month so I can feed my family. So I get 30 to 40 calls plus emails from bill collectors. I tried to get a better job but I couldn’t due to bad credit. Every day I wake up I’m very angry and just want to die I feel I’m getting more and more crazier every day. Last week the love of my life told me she never loved me and she wanted to see other people because I’m not handling my responsibilities as a man and a father to my son and her son. So she is still in my house going on dates with dudes and I try to kick her out and she will not leave. All she does is sit at home eating all the food and running up all the bills that she is not paying. She said if I try to push her out the house again she will take my son and I will never see him again. Last time i tried to kick her out she called the cops on me and I almost went to jail. I hate my life so much I just want to end it and I cant do that because I have a son who needs a father. I didn’t have anyone when I grew up so I need to make sure his life is the sh!t in his eyes. I don’t know what to do next, Everyday it seems like I have to make a life changing decision.

  14. Elizabeth S says:

What do professional gyms do with their old equipment?
I was a member of the gym at my hospital, but just changed jobs, and will have to pay high fees to remain.

I went ahead and bought an elliptical trainer for home, but one thing I will really miss is the stomach machine. I have neck problems, and the ability to sit up, and push the weight down with my chest – not using my neck – was a great way to avoid further injury.

I’ve seen all the ‘ads’ for stomach machines, but I find the ones at professional gyms seem to work best for me. If they happen to go on sale (for less than $1000) when replaced, I would love to buy one.

Can anyone shine any light on this?

  15. elis says:

they sell the machines, in the gym i went a long time before they changed the machines and were selling the old ones but very expensive more than $1000 and it was just a bike
